Familiarize Yourself with the System:

The XM203 is a gas-operated unit that requires time and attention to fully understand its operation, much like a car engine. Over time, you will become familiar with the unit by hearing and feeling when something might need adjusting, such as low gas or if something is off. Please take the time to learn how the unit functions, and try not to get frustrated if things donโ€™t go as expected at first. RDX is here to support you through this learning process

Below is a guide to the controls and functions of the XM203. Please download it to familiarize yourself with the functions and controls of the unit.

Understand the Wiring Requirements:

The XM203 requires connections for negative, positive, and signal wires. Obtaining these from the device it is mounted on can sometimes be challenging. This video will provide an overview of the minimum requirements to get your XM203 up and running.โ€‹

Using the SDM (Shot Detection Module) can simplify certain installations. Please download the file below to learn how the SDM works.

lubricatedย Me! Clean Me!

Each time you take the XM203 gaming, ensure the indicated areas are properly oiled or lubricated. Neglecting this maintenance can reduce the performance of the XM203 and may eventually cause damage to the rear firing seal.

What oil to use?

We have found that standard silicone oil tends to burn off quickly and does not last as long as other oils. Therefore, while silicone oil can be used on the firing sleeve and cylinder, we recommend using a more heavy-duty oil for the rear seal.
RDX recommendsย Breakthrough Battle Born High-Purity Oil. Please ensure that the oil is non-flammable, non-toxic, and safe for use with silicone and NBR (nitrile rubber) seals and O-rings.

Clean me.

Ensure the areas where oil is applied are regularly checked and cleaned of dirt and grime. While the system can withstand significant exposure to dust and debris, itโ€™s a good idea to periodically inspect and clean it to maintain reliability and prevent damage to the rear seal.

Heat and Firing Abuse:

As tempting as it may be, the XM203 generates heat with each shot, so itโ€™s important not to fire it continuously for long periods. As a user, you must be mindful of this. Excessive heat can tear a seal, which will disable the unit until itโ€™s replaced. Too much heat could also damage the XM203 or cause burns if touched, and frequent firing can irritate others during gameplay.
Please avoid overusing the unit to prevent harm to yourself, the XM203, or those around you.ย Regularly check the front-firing sleeve for heat. Itโ€™s normal for it to feel warm, but you should still be able to hold it comfortably with your hand (after 50-100 shots). If it becomes too hot to touch, stop and let the unit cool down for 2-3 minutes. Once the sleeve is cool enough to hold, you can resume firing.
