Update Firmware
6. There are three ways to load new firmware onto the XM203. Depending on your confidence level, you can choose any of the following methods:
- Automatic Upload: This method automatically uploads the selected firmware by activating the XM203, locating the drive, and copying the file in the background.
- Drag-and-Drop: Simply drag and drop the downloaded UF2 firmware file from your file location into the area marked [6]. Once this is done, the firmware will be ready for upload.
- File Selection: Click the button marked [- - -]. A file dialog box will appear, allowing you to select the downloaded UF2 file. Once the file is selected, the firmware will be ready for upload.
- Manual Upload: If you select "Firmware" without a file loaded, the XM203 will connect, and a new drive will appear in Windows. You will need to manually copy the UF2 file from your computer to this drive. After the file is copied, the drive will automatically disappear, and the XM203 will restart as normal.
SUCCESSFUL update
If the Windows PC drive has been successfully loaded and the file transferred, the XM203 will reboot automatically.
Once rebooted, press "Connect" to reconnect the PC to the XM203. The terminal output will display the newly updated firmware [7].

If the update is not successful, simply unplug the XM203, reconnect it to the USB-C cable, and start the process again.
If the update was only partially completed, the communication port will still be visible, allowing you to reconnect and repeat the process.
If, upon reconnecting the XM203, a Windows File Explorer drive appears, it means the process was partially successful. In this case, you can simply drag and drop (or copy and paste) the UF2 firmware file onto the new drive. Once the file is copied, the drive will disappear, and the XM203 will restart.

ChangesRev:2.26
Start in Silent Mode: When activated, the XM203 will begin in silent mode, disabling its ability to fire even if a signal is received. This ensures that FCUs (Fire Control Units) that activate the motor upon connecting power will not trigger the XM203. To exit silent mode and go live, simply tap either the up or down key. A beep will sound, indicating that silent mode has been disabled. Note: A green LED will flash every 3 seconds to indicate that the XM203 is in silent mode. |
